History of the Building

The building, 28 Ráday Street, is the head office of the Danubian Reformed Church District in Budapest. Dating from the 19th century: the Ferencváros Tobacco Factory bought the empty building in 1850 and used it as a factory for more than fifty years. In 1909, the Reformed Church in Hungary first rented it, then in 1913 bought and renovated it.

Today, the building houses the Bishop’s Office of Danubian Reformed Church District, the Faculty of Theology and Dormitory of the Károli Gáspár University of the Danubian Reformed Church District, the Ráday Library and Archives and the Bible Museum.
