Dance of lines

Creative workshop based on the works of painter László Kontraszty

Angular, curved, two-colored, multi-colored – which adjectives fit which Kontraszty painting, and what images do people see in these abstract paintings? What ‘moves’ the whimsically twisting lines in the artist’s late, refined creative period? We listen to music while we ourselves create colorful shapes produced improvisationally with felt tip pens. Younger children are aided in this with curved rulers. The older ones create freehand shapes similar to the playful lines drawn on paper with Kontraszty’s dynamic, loose hand movements, mimicking the flow of the musical melody, freely varying the colors and line thicknesses to achieve the desired visual effect.
